Peter Ellicott
Peter qualified as a Barrister in September 1999, having completed his 12-month pupillage at 3 Temple Gardens. After gaining experience at the Bar, Peter recognised that his interests lay within civil law rather than criminal practice and, in April 2001, he cross-qualified as a Solicitor-Advocate, specialising in general civil litigation.
In 2008, Peter further developed his expertise by completing the required two-year course and becoming a member of the Association of Contentious Trusts and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS), reflecting his commitment to providing specialist advice in contentious probate and trust matters.
Peter’s practice focuses predominantly on disputes involving wills, trusts, estates and matters relating to capacity, including:
• Fraudulent or disputed wills
• Court of Protection matters
• Disputes between executors and personal representatives
• Issues involving the Office of the Public Guardian
• Claims involving undue influence, coercion and the validity of wills
• Disputes concerning testamentary capacity
• Claims brought by disappointed beneficiaries
• Estate disputes involving dependants
• Concerns regarding the management of an elderly person’s finances by an attorney acting under a Lasting Power of Attorney
Peter is known for his detailed approach, strong technical knowledge and ability to provide clear, practical advice in often complex and sensitive disputes.
Outside of work, Peter enjoys sailing and holds an RYA Offshore Yachtmaster certificate.
